Guys, I Watched With Love Meghan and I Loved It! I know you all love to hate on her, but I seriously loved this show. As a blogger, The Tig has always been a huge inspiration to me, so it felt like this show was basically a video version of just that.
Now, with Ramadan here, I feel like we’ve all developed an extra weakness for food. Even foods we don’t usually like somehow look and taste really good. 😂 I watched Meghan’s show during the first week of Ramadan, and ever since, I’ve been craving Meghan's focaccia bread like a crazy person. It was only natural that I had to hunt down the best focaccia sandwich in London... and let me tell you, I think I’ve found it!
I’ll be honest – I’m a little intimidated by baking bread. I’ve never done it before, and it's just not something I’m super into. Meghan made it look so easy, but honestly, I couldn’t be bothered this month. However, my aunt is an amazing cook and baker, so I think I’ll save the bread-making for when she comes to visit. It’ll make a lovely auntie-niece activity. Actually, this reminds me: when I was little, whenever my mum needed a break from me, she’d take me to the local grocery store and buy me a ready-made baking kit. I’d bake with my youngest aunt, but let’s be real – Auntie did most of the baking, and I just mixed a little, added some sprinkles, and proudly told everyone I baked it myself. 😂
Anyway, my TikTok-ing led me to discover Focaccia Mia, and guys, this place is divine! I can’t even begin to explain how amazing this sandwich shop is. Hands down, one of the best sandwich spots ever. I stalked their menu and mentally picked two vegetarian options, but I was pleasantly surprised to find out they have halal options too! I usually stick to vegetarian sandwiches because good halal ones are hard to find.
Here’s what I ordered:
Sando Specials:
Chicken Parm: Fried panko chicken fillet, in-house tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella, basil & grated parmigiano – £12
Parmigiana: Baked layered aubergine with in-house tomato sauce, mozzarella, provola, basil, parmesan & pecorino – £12
These sandwiches were seriously delicious and so filling! I love places that are generous with their fillings. I bought them for a tasting and shared them out, but honestly, half a sandwich is more than enough – they’re super filling and so fresh. The aubergine sandwich was the winner here! I think it’s the tomato sauce that makes it so amazing. Seriously, you have to try this. I’m definitely going back for more!
Here’s a quick glimpse if my sandos.
PS- If your like me and want to bring them home or save them for later then pop them in the air-fryer for a few minutes on low heat. - Your welcome!
PPS- I'm sorry I didn't get more pictures of the Sandos but it was ramadan and I was more interested in devouring my sandwich than photographing it! Sorry not sorry. 😂
A Little Background on Focaccia Mia:
Back in 1999, Ida, a chef with deep roots in Naples, Italy, turned her passion for cooking into a catering business, Ida’s Kitchen. Operating out of her home kitchen, Ida quickly became a hit in London, catering to some of the city's top corporate offices. For over 20 years, it was just her, a few part-time helpers, and a lot of love for food.
Then came 2020, and with it, a worldwide shutdown. But instead of closing the door for good, Ida found a partner in her son, Jamal. Recently graduated with a marketing degree and full of ideas, Jamal helped Ida revamp the business, giving it a fresh online look, new branding, and a new vision. Together, they moved out of their home and into their very first commercial space in North West London.
But the story didn’t stop there. By 2022, they had outgrown their space and found adream kitchen in a railway arch in East London’s vibrant Bethnal Green. With a blank canvas to work with, they built their dream kitchen from scratch. The business grew fast, and by August 2022, Jamal’s younger brother, Jalees, joined the team as a full-time chef, further fueling the family's food empire.
Fast forward to October 2023, and Focaccia Mia was born. A fresh venture under the Ida’s Kitchen umbrella, this new concept was a hit from the start. With Jamal handling the branding and marketing and Jalees whipping up the menu, the business became an overnight sensation, with customers lining up every weekend. It was overwhelming, in the best way possible – and the community embraced them like never before.
Ida’s Kitchen isn’t just a family business; it’s a dream that’s come to life, one sandwich at a time.
