How To Really Get Rid Of Stretch Marks At Home

After years of googling the above, rest assured that the title is notclickbait!!! šŸ’ƒšŸ» As most humans do, I am in possession of stretch marks 😩 BUT I have finally found the remedy (after 10 years of failed Google searches 🤭).

Most of the things you'll find as home remedies when you Google are Palmer’s Cocoa Butter, Bio Oil, coconut oil, and Aloe Vera gel. While I do think they make a faint difference, I don’t believe they make much of an impact. They should ideally be used to prevent stretch marks, because there isn’t much they can do once you’ve got them. That being said, every skin type is different and reacts differently.

I've recently started TikTok-ing my searches instead of using Google. Yes, I’m one of those people now. But in all fairness, I’m a visual learner, and I find TikToks to be more honest than the numerous articles I’ve read on random websites.

During my searches, I came across a video (I’ll add the link when I find it again) of a woman who had postpartum stretch marks on her stomach. She explained how she had tried and experimented with various different products with no luck—until she used a derma roller. While I’m generally reluctant to try anything these days (since most of these things are just clickbait), I was intrigued by this particular method because she explained the science behind it.

When a derma roller is applied to the skin, it creates micro-punctures. The micro-damage caused by the derma roller forces your body to stimulate its healing process. During this healing process, the skin produces collagen and elastin, which rejuvenates your skin and reduces the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, scars, and—most importantly—those dreaded stretch marks! Yay! šŸ˜

I started using the derma roller a few months ago, and to my delight, I’ve seen great results. I won’t lie, it does kind of hurt, and I dread it at times—although it’s the anticipation of the pain I hate more than the actual pain.

Disclaimer: Do’s and Don’ts:

- Do not share your derma roller kit with anyone! It’s unhygienic and can cause infections, etc.

- Make sure you sterilize the roller after every use, as well as disinfecting the skin area you are treating.

- Do not overdo this process. I recommend using it every two weeks, although you should adjust the number of uses based on how your skin heals (since this may differ for each person). If you overuse it, you’ll end up scarring your skin and causing more damage. You must allow your skin to heal properly before needling it again!

- While I’ve seen great results, I had mild to medium-level stretch marks, so depending on how severe your marks are, this process can take up to a year or more. I know you probably don’t want to hear that, but slow and steady wins the race! šŸ˜…

The link for the derma roller kit I bought is here. This is not paid advertising or anything like that—although, I really should be paid, right? šŸ˜‚

Now go and make yourself stretch mark-free! You’re welcome! šŸ˜‰
